FIFA 13 REVIEW
FIFA 13 was released last year, and had millions of people lining up outside the doors, for their chance to get their hands on this game. However, is it really worth all the love it's getting? Is it really as good as we say? Well, being a person who plays this regularly, I think I'm the man to explain.
The game itself features a whole variety of features which have been reheated from FIFA 12. The Ultimate Team sensation is the main one. People have gone mad for Ultimate Team on FIFA 13, and I don't blame them. It truly is a fantastic game mode, which is full of excitement, tension and is a whole lot of fun! To be honest, it is only going to be extremely fun for somebody who is amazing, and strategic on FIFA, no casual amateur can make it to the top of the food chain in Ultimate Team. However, that's not at all a problem that involves the game, but the problem with it is the same as it has been for all the other FIFA's...
The servers simply aren't good enough. I don't think anybody who plays this game will disagree, they just are shocking. Ok yes, they're a bit better than the FIFA's of old, but you've got to pay attention extremely hard for you to notice. I'd like to say; 'FINALLY! FIFA'S NEMESIS HAS BEEN CLEARED INTO ROW Z...but no. I'm not impressed by it.
Fortunately, there still is a lot to be impressed about. If you're thinking right now that without the smooth online gameplay FIFA is ruined, then you have a point, but 90% of me disagrees. There's still so much to do. Career Mode is amazing! It's a very far cry from the old style of FIFA Career mode. They've made it seem so much more realistic, so much more live, more involved! I've wasted hours of my life on Career Mode, and i'm fine with that, because it has won me over. I genuinely didn't expect it to be as lovely as it is. Although, if you dig a bit deeper into it, the foundations of the mode are still the same, so you don't really feel like you need to adjust at all.
The challenges are another feature that I really like. For example, you may be given a team that has 10 minutes left in the game, and is losing 1-0, and you need to win the game, or you are 4-0 down at half time, and you need to pull it back etc. It is another gripping game mode. Yes, it get's a bit frustrating, but like I said, it's down to our own personal qualities, not the game.
There are many more game modes you can play, there are dozens of challenges to try, and the people on the sideline are much more active! It's a whole different wold out there.
My final point about the game is the graphics. The graphics are still brilliant! There are small, yet very effective changes between FIFA 12, and FIFA 13, and I definitely prefer FIFA 13. However, what about against PES 2013? Now you may be thinking braces yourself...this should be interesting, but wait...The story is actually short and simple. PES goes down a much longer and more complicated route to make the graphics as good as possible, but they're just not as good. FIFA is more vibrant, more clear, and the players are much easier to work oout if you look at them. A handful of players look better on PES, but all the rest are much better on FIFA 13. However, this is just my opinion, i think it's fair to say that it's 50/50 for who's better.
So to sum up this review, FIFA 13 is another fantastic game, and it's definately worth the hype. However, the server does really let them down, and I don't see the next FIFA being any better . With that out the way though, this game is much better than any of the old FIFA's, and it's the game that's made me more into FIFA, as I used to spend most of my gaming time away from FIFA. Everything, except the connection has improved massively, and it's definitely a good buy.
